Artistes staging a play "Ascent

Adding an innovative dimension to the children theatre with meaningful
entertainment ‘The Ascent of Man-Part I’ virtually mesmerized the
school students at Tagore Theatre today. The musical entertainment event
with historical and educational content was brought to the city by the
Durga Das Foundation supported by the Chandirarh Tourism and the Tribune
Group Newspapers as the media sponsor.
The unique theatrical bonanza was conceived scripted and directed by Lushin
Dubey and Bubbles Sabharwal, Lushin Dubey the thespian film actor of international
eminence and both of them the pioneers of English theatre.
The play traces the evolution of civilization since the inception of life
through the fun-filled musical drama, which kept the students drawn from
various city schools, glued to their seats in perfect receptive mood.
‘The Ascent of a Man’ depicted the historical facts through various
initiations by an inquisitive little history lover, Jessica Potter, the
protagonist, to explore and authenticate the unknown.
The director borrowed the mythological and supernatural themes to illustrate
the historical facts keeping the interest of the audience alive.
Over 25 artists between the age group of six to 26 years participated
in the tricks, dances and actions. All of them maintained perfect timings
but Jessica Malhotra, Gaurav Pahwa, Udit Narayan and Ayesha Goyal excelled.
The chiaroscuro effects by Jaspreet, music by Babush Joe Santana and choreography
by Norbu Tshering augmented the level of production.
